What Do You Need to Bring to Closing?

You went into contract. You've gone through the whole process. You're ready to sign all the papers. What do you need to bring?

It's always a good idea to bring two to three forms of identification. Of course you will need your driver's licences or state identification, but if you have it, it's also recommended that you bring your passport and/or social security card.

Why do you need these? The most important reason is because the closer, or notary who will be having you sign all of the paperwork needs a photo ID to make sure you are who you say you are. Another reason is that the lender or bank that you are using will want to see that the title company verified that same info, as well as having proof that the info you gave them at the beginning of the process matches what they have in their system.

Some lenders will require only one form of identification, while others will require two. That's why it is a good idea to bring more than one form. If you end up only needing one, it's better to be safe, than sorry.

If you are a seller, you'll also want to bring a voided check if you would like your proceeds wired to you. Otherwise, you'll receive a paper check that you can cash at your local bank you use.

Hopefully, all of your questions are answered, but if not, feel free to reach out to us at Axxis Title any time and we can help get you on your way to a successful closing!
